Downloading Zipped Files
First, be sure you have an up-to-date version of WinZip. If not,
download one at
www.winzip.com
.
For the best results, download files from the
CME
web site to a folder that you create on your computer called "CME
Downloads." You'll need to set up this folder through Window's
Explorer or My Computer on your hard drive.
Once you have completed the steps above, click on the
CME
file you want to download (see links to offers below). You'll be
prompted to choose either "open" or "save";
click on "save." Save the zipped file to the "CME
Downloads" folder on your hard drive. Then, in the "CME
Downloads" folder, click on the zipped file. WinZip will open
the contents of the zipped folder. Click on the design file and
then "Extract." WinZip will help you extract the contents
of the zipped file and place it wherever you want it on your hard
drive or removable disk. Some embroiderers choose to save files
on a separate disk, some save on the hard drive in folders for the
type of design, and some save it in the same folder (in this case,
the folder is "CME Downloads"). Once the file is extracted
from the zip file, you can delete the zip file; it is not necessary
to keep it. However, if desired, you can save the zip files onto
a separate disk as a backup, in case it becomes necessary to retrieve
them in the future.
